Home Life:
There is no record of any ‘Webster’ family living in Ruskington on the 1911 Census. Neither can any relevant birth record be found for the appropriate period.
The remains of Norman, who died 10th June 1999, and his wife, May Evelyn (née Brown) [died 4the December 1981] Webster lie in Grave 55, West Border, New Plot, Ruskington Cemetery. In 1939 (Register) they were living at ‘Veronica’ Westcliffe Road, Ruskington, but there is no record of any children of the marriage.
But – Norman was only 32 years old and May was 33 in 1939, so too young to have a son eligible for War Service.
The 1939 Register shows only one other family – 70 year old widow, Annie Webster, and her unmarried 43 year old daughter, Doris. They were living on Station Road.
Military Service:
The village War Memorials vary in the name from ‘Jock‘ to ‘John’, but all show his second Christian name as ‘Henry‘.
However, there is no CWGC Record for any version of “John (Jock) Henry Webster”.
