World War 2 Casualties

soldier

The following 12 men from the village of Ruskington, Lincolnshire, gave their lives in the Second World War.

Their names do not appear on the War Memorial in Buxton Cemetery but are shown on the Memorial Plaques in the Garden of Remembrance and in the Children’s Chapel, All Saints Church, Ruskington.

[N.B. Service Records are not generally available for World War 2 casualties – only to direct family members. In the cases of the men named below periods of Service have been inferred from the respective Battalion histories of combat.]

Some additional information has recently become available from The 1939 Register, which provides a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. However, many names were redacted after the men were called up for War Service.
